Marking Mindz partnered with Calico to build the product from the ground up: research and product design, the customer-facing mobile apps, the provider dashboard, and the backend that ties everything together — delivered as a single, cohesive platform.
The challenge
Booking pet care in India is still largely offline — a mix of phone calls, walk-ins and paper records. Pet parents struggle to find trusted clinics, remember vaccination dates and keep a single history for their pet. On the other side, clinics and groomers lose time to manual scheduling, no-shows and missed follow-ups.
Calico needed a platform that made booking effortless for pet parents while giving providers real operational value — not just a directory, but a two-sided system that both audiences would actually use every day.
Our approach
We treated Calico as one product with two experiences. Starting from user research, we mapped the pet-parent journey (discover → book → remember → return) and the provider journey (accept → manage queue → follow up → grow), then designed flows that keep both sides in sync in real time.
From there we shipped in weekly increments — a clean, mobile-first design system, native app experiences, and a provider dashboard — all backed by a scalable API. Every release was demoable, so Calico could validate with real clinics and pet owners as we went.
